Young Innovators Awards 2022/23

An annual recruitment campaign for Innovate UK's Young Innovators Awards

Our aim for this campaign was to expand the community and engage new, diverse young innovators to achieve a more inclusive pool of applicants and support them to realise their potential.

The Challenge

Our responsibility encompasses driving registrations for the awards briefing event and increasing applications for the competition. This campaign entails collaboration with various stakeholders, including program leads at Innovate UK and Diversity & Inclusion partners at Innovate UK KTN, alongside internal teams within the directorate.

The Solution

With the support from a creative agency, we started out by analysing the needs and asks of different parties.

 

We then came up with a comprehensive campaign plan, which involves creating a dedicated campaign landing page, a series of promotional videos featuring current award holders, automated emails targeting engaged audience, a paid advertising campaign, a set of new social media assets and templates, as well as a partners pack which was distributed to >10,000 stakeholders.

The Results

Making sure that the campaign was strong, engaging and empowering, we not only boosted interest for the awards, but also, attached positive attributes to the programme, increased the numbers of newsletter subscribers by 150 within two months, and received +40% applications compared with the 2021/22 awards.
